About Us
Welcome to misfits&mascara, an online oasis created to tackle a premise so wild and crazy it’s logical: productive procrastination, and sisters Rebekah and Krissy will be using it to create their ideal lifestyles.

In some regards, I’m quite simple. Like everyone else out there, I just want to do what I want to do. I’m sick of the rat-race and I’m sick of feeling like I’m stuck on a tilt-a-whirl (fun until it’s not). I currently have a job working approximately 80 hours a week, and though I don’t hate it, it’s not exactly a career choice. What I really want to do is write books and travel, not necessarily in that order… and live by an ocean, eating fresh lobster bisque whenever I want and wearing big cable-knit sweaters with my jeans and Wellies as the crisp salty air blows through my hair. Sigh. Until I can figure out how to do all of that, I’ll settle for a lake (sans fresh lobster bisque of course) and I’ll do this… call it productive procrastinating.
Over the course of time I’ll share with you my goals, big and small, and my procrastinations and detours. I am now responsible to you. You will witness my struggle, firsthand, and know you are not alone in yours. Some of my goals may seem a little ridiculous or far-fetched, but as I’ve paraphrased: we get out of bed for our dreams, not reality. This is the first step in my revival—which is more about exploring and getting back to who I used to be (before life got so distracting). You can only deny your true self for so long; we might as well get started. In the wise words of Oscar Wilde, “Be yourself; everyone else is taken.”

Rebekah and I have a LOT in common: our strong work ethic, our sarcasm, our lightning-fast text messaging skills, and most of all the absurd amount of creative energy we possess. We also have something lethal in common: the ability to burn out before using our creative energy to its full potential. We occupy ourselves so much with the everyday responsibilities of survival and the expectations of society, our creative reserves are left untapped, and us, uninspired.
We’ve always known we can’t be the only women who feel this way. When we began discussing this brainchild of ours, Rebekah put it very accurately: “We need to find our people.” So here we are, searching for our people, while simultaneously building a haven for our overflowing creativity.
No matter your creative endeavour or life goal, it is our mission to continually offer you inspiration as you productively procrastinate your way to success.
If you can’t do it with feeling, don’t.
